Bold black;
lush as a latte
Bold and satisfying black. Lush and rounded with milk. The brain-friendly alternative to coffee. A tasty nootropic blend of Assam tea, raw cacao, and Lion's Mane.

Ingredients
Ingredients from their most nutrient-rich environments, in Slovakia, India, and Ghana

Assam tea
Bold, malty foundation.
Naturally occurring caffeine and theanine, supporting alertness and focus
Leaves from Sivasagar, Upper Assam, where older tea trees grow in mineral-rich soil and partial shade among diverse native plants. The deep roots of mature trees draw from a wider range of nutrients, while shade and biodiversity support a richer nutrient profile and more balanced taste.
(In contrast to standard production where tea trees are replaced every few years for maximum yield, plants are in direct sun for faster growth, and vegetation is less diverse.)
NooTea leaves are carefully hand-picked, selecting only the top bud and youngest leaves for optimal flavour and natural compounds. Traditional processing preserves the leaf's integrity, allowing its bold, malty character to develop fully.

Raw, Fermented Cacao
Builds a richer, deeper taste
Raw Cacao is rich in theobromine, a compound associated with mental uplift (roasting destroys the theobromine)
Our cacao is from the tropical highlands of the Ahafo region in Ghana, where cacao trees grow shaded by the canopy of native trees. In the shade the beans grow more slowly, developing a richer flavour. The mix of species makes for a healthy soil and more nutrient rich beans. The soil is tested for heavy metals, so we ensure clean, safe cacao free from contamination.
The beans are naturally fermented under plantain leaves and dried in the sun, then we process them at low temperatures to preserve theobromine and other beneficial compounds.
The result is rich in theobromine and rich in flavour.

Lion's Mane mushroom
Adds a subtle earthy note
Long prized in wellness traditions for its connection to mental performance
We use carefully dried pieces of whole Lion's Mane mushroom, long used in traditional wellness practices for its association with cognitive function. Sourced from forest-side farms in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia, where it's grown on natural wood substrate and air-dried to preserve its beneficial compounds.
Used in small amounts, it brings a subtle earthy depth and fits naturally within Brew 1.

More than a sum of its parts
Caffeine from Assam tea gives you a lift, while theobromine from raw cacao brings a gentler, longer-lasting mental energy, so no spikes and crashes like with coffee.
Small amounts of L-theanine from traditionally processed Assam help round the edges for a calmer, more focused state.
Lion's Mane mushroom contributes compounds traditionally associated with memory and cognitive function.
Cacao polyphenols and tea antioxidants complement each other, for mental clarity and cellular resilience.
The maltiness of Assam, bittersweet richness of raw cacao, and the subtle earthiness of Lion's Mane make for a deep, rounded, coffee replacing taste.
Why didn't something like Brew 1 already exist?
Theanine of tea + Theobromine of raw cacao are a nootropic match made in heaven. But blending tea with cacao brings some unique challenges. The tannins in black tea can clash with cacao's complex flavour profile, and tea and cacao generally need different extraction temperatures. Most attempts result in muddy flavours where neither ingredient shines. But while many people are familiar only with the tastes of mass market teas, flavour profiles of teas are as varied as they are with wines (I'd say more so). The right tea from a small-holding in Assam, and the right cacao from a quiet corner of Ahafo did the trick. There's a limit to the amount we can produce.
